I just added the Adventure Cycling 40th Anniversary National Bike Travel Weekend to our calendar.  Wow, that's next weekend already!  I wonder if I can make it happen for me...

I've been fortunate enough to be 5 for 5 in my overnighter-per-month goal for this year. So I'm plenty motivated to get out for another overnighter in June.  We've had a very rainy spring. It's very soggy out.

I'm going to study the weather for next weekend and see if I can go ahead a be part of the event.  If it doesn't work out, however, I'll keep trying for something in June.

You guys have something planned for next weekend?

Y'know, I don't typically ascribe myself to "national" things when I'm outside of the US of A, but I really need to spend some time outdoors and next weekend fits the bill. I suppose I'll take part in the Swift solstice campout as well. I like events like these, because it gives me an excuse to get out when I otherwise don't have one.
There's a campsite in Belgium that I need to revisit, maybe I'll head out that way. Otherwise, it's finding a spot to pitch a tent amongst the German RVs that comprise the majority of "campers" in this part of the world.

It appears the rain/flooding will never end in Texas.  The weekend, and everyday this week, looks like a washout.  I'm going to keep an eye out for opportunity knocking, but am guessing I'll need to rely on great post-weekend reports from you all.

Annie, are you headed to Montreal? Looking forward to reading about your trip.

And an interesting thing to note:

I've known about the ACA weekend for awhile, but I've talked to many folks who had no clue it was going on.

However, everyone seems to know about the Swift Campout at the end of the month, despite it being posted maybe a month or two ago. (ACA has been pushing the NBTW for over a year.)

This means something, and I feel the "meaning" isn't exactly good for Adventure Cycling Association...

Yes, that is interesting.  Maybe ACA is known in other ways for other things.

Possibly. But I fear it's more that Swift is hip and cool and knows how to appeal to/get the attention of the "younger generations", and ACA is more stuck in its old ways. Which is cool if that's what they want, but I know that ACA wants to appeal to this younger generation, if nothing else to grow the organization and to make it survive in the coming decades.

No bike camping this weekend for me. We're in the middle of a Spring rain cycle. Looks to be a wet, cold weekend ahead.
